Description
Theme: “Rhapsody in Green”
Ikebana International theme: “Dancing with Green”

This regional garden show attracts people from all over the Northeast. I.I. members exhibited thirteen ikebana in a tokonoma-like display area on each of the three entry days. In addition, three ikebana schools are represented at the “Design Division invitational” section during the Show. Masako Yatsuhashi, Keiko Thayer, and Dora Lee displayed a beautiful arrangement of their own Schools in that section.

Three members, Kaye Vosburgh, Tomoko Tanaka, and Hiroko Matsuyama demonstrated ikebana at the Floral Demonstration Stage during the Show. The displays and demonstrations attracted large audiences with their distinguished features of the asymmetric form and the use of empty space.

We won the following Prizes:

*Silver medal: “Ikebana exhibit in which the staging complements the exhibit’s very clean lines. The exhibit conveys many facets of this particular floral art style.”

*Superlative Award for Cut Flowers:
For the highly imaginative, inspirational, and intriguing use of cut flowers in a floral arrangement.
“Traditional Asian designs have been used in imaginative, inspirational, and intriguing ways through the use of space, texture, and color.”
