2017 Boston Flower and Garden Show
Location: Seaport World Trade Center, 200 Seaport Blvd., Commonwealth Pier, Boston, MA 02210
Date: March 22, 2017 - March 26, 2017
Our exhibition was well received by the general public who appreciated the 30 diverse arrangements from the Ikenobo, Ohara and Sogetsu Schools. The chair of the Flower Show, Joanne Caccavale made a large Sogetsu Free Style floor arrangement using debarked curly willow branches, scotched black plastic bags and strelitzia. The President of the Ikenobo School, Mimi Santini-Ritt made a Rikka Shimputai using a variety of material including cork and Linda Clarke made a miniature Rikka Shimputai.
This year’s “Curriculum Corner” featured Shoka Shofutai from the Ikenobo School, Slanting Syle moribna and Hana Isyou inclining form from Ohara School and Moribana Variation #5 from the Sogetsu School.
Tomoko Tanaka, of the Sogetsu School, presented a one hour public demonstration bringing the charm and beauty of nature indoors. Thirty one I.I. members served as docents throughout the five day exhibition.
