Ikebana International 60th Anniversary Celebration and Luncheon
Joint program with Sogetsu Massachusetts Branch

We celebrated our 60th Anniversary as a chapter of Ikebana International in the beautiful setting of the Wellesley College Club. Sogetsu School Master Instructor, Misei Ishikawa gave a beautiful demonstration in front of 100 people plus a group of Wellesley College students who are taking a Japanese class lead by Prof. Eiko Torii-Williams. This event was held as a collaboration of I.I. Boston Chapter and Sogetsu Massachusetts Branch, with support of the Wellesley College East Asian Languages and Culture department. We were honored to have Consul General Mr. Michii and Ms. Otsuka from the Consulate-General of Japan in Boston in attendance along with Sogetsu members from Toronto Canada and seven other US states. After the demonstration we enjoyed lunch with Ishikawa-sensei surrounded by her arrangements.

Mrs. Ishikawa gave a workshop with the theme of “With Flowers Only” stressing the importance of color, shape, and line. Master Ishikawa instructed workshop attendees to emphasize the focal point of their arrangement.
